Corrugated FEP Tubing
Corrugated FEP Tubing was originally designed by Ira Clement in 1966 at Penn Tube Plastics in Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania. This new tubing was engineered to be a flexible Fluoropolymer tube that can turn sharp corners and be shaped with very small bend diameters without reducing the inside diameter and is crush resistant. First used in bottle filling lines for its compression capability and later in paint solvent machines for its chemical inertnes, Corrugated FEP Tubing became a necessity for fluid handling applications.
Manufactured from FDA compliant FEP and PFA resins corrugated tubing can be used as an electrical or fluid conduit for robots equipped with flexible arms that contain electrical wiring, air, or corrosive liquids and is still safe for food contact. Corrugated Tubing will operate in applications where high temperatures are required and other materials are not suitable. Corrugated FEP Tubing can be reinforced with Kevlar braid, or other textile braids for operations at higher pressures. Fluorinated ethylene propylene or FEP is a high temperature material that has a non-stick surface, allowing easy cleaning and removal of foreign matter in the lines, but does not self drain like convoluted tubing will. FEP is an excellent electrical insulator and is resist most strong corrosive liquids including hot acids. Tef Cap’s Corrugated FEP Tubing is manufactured from USP Class VI virgin FEP resin and is non-contaminating. Corrugated PFA Tubing can also be manufactured in the sizes listed below.

Tef Cap Industries’ Corrugated FEP Tubing is manufactured to extend and compress all without affecting the internal diameter of the tube. This helps eliminate drops in flow rate and increases turbulence for better surface contact in heat exchange applications. Corrugated FEP Tubing has nearly twice the surface area or contact when compared to extruded smooth bore PTFE tube.
