Thermoforming Fluoropolymers

Forming Bends in FEP and PFA Tubing

Thermoforming or thermosetting Teflon FEP, PFA and PTFE is a process in which Fluoropolymer tubing becomes so hot and malleable that it can be transformed into permanent rigid shapes. Thermosetting allows Tef Cap to create a one of a kind custom Coiled and Retractable tube for heat exchangers and water or air dispensers.

Thermoforming Fluoropolymers are done in large molds that can be heated and cooled keeping the material in place which when finished would leave the parts with zero residual stress. Being able to bend and mold a smoothbore tube is highly beneficial because you do not reduce the internal diameter of the tube and therefore you do not lose any internal flow. Smoothbore tubes are also easy to clean, with no ridges like corrugated or convoluted tubing foreign material has no place to hide or build up.
