What Makes FEP Tubing Different From Other Fluoropolymer Tubing?
FEP tubing was originally developed in the 1950s, providing a clear solution that is chemically inert and has lower gas/vapor permeability than PTFE tubing (Teflon).
- Lower melting point: FEP tubing has a lower melting point than PTFE, at 450 ° Fahrenheit (~230 ° Celsius).
- Greater clarity: FEP tubing is also available in various colors for greater clarity. Currently, FEP tubing is available in clear, red, blue, yellow, and black colors, optimal for branding and/or identifying purposes. Clear tubing is particularly useful in larger systems or data centers, where cables require proper organization and bundling.
- Higher flexibility: FEP tubing is built to last with customization options to suit shrink ratios, sizes, and dimensions for any particular project or machine you’ve invested in.
- Improved gas and vapor permeability: If you’re seeking improved vapor and gas permeability, FEP tubing is often a more suitable choice than PTFE. FEP tubing is extremely resistant to permeation, providing additional stability and protection for your investments.
- Excellent UV transference: Enhanced UV transference and transmission. Better mechanical properties than standard Teflon PTFE.
- Purity: FEP tubing is also available in high-purity grades, based on your specific needs, budget, and project demands.
- Stability: FEP tubing is also known for its high thermal stability, so you can maintain your peace of mind.
- Insulation: For those interested in enhanced electrical insulation properties, FEP tubing is a solid investment.
